Today I stumbled on a new business in The Grove neighborhood.
I was dropping of my dogs at the K9 Athletic Club to have my foster dog Padme evaluated by their trainer, and I noticed the sign for Amy’s Corner Bakeshop on the same corner.
The stylish sign and promise of some freshly baked treats enticed me inside.
What I found was wonderful.
The owner, Amy, and her employee behind the counter were both really friendly and happily agreed to let me take pictures.
They have been open for 1 week today, and right now their menu is limited to drinks and baked goods. Once they get more established, they might add more menu items.
I can’t imagine what 8 month pregnant Amy was thinking when she timed the opening of this business just before having a baby, but I’m certainly glad it was open today.
The cinnamon roll I purchased was delicious. I find most cinnamon rolls are too crusty on the outside…I like the soft interior pieces. Amy’s cinnamon rolls are soft all the way around. It’s hard to believe that they only charge $1.25 for these given they take 6 hours to make.
I also like the size. Big enough to satisfy my sweet tooth but not so big that you wipe out your daily allotment of calories in one sitting.
They also had lemon bars, scones, mini-cupcakes, cookies, cakes and tiramisu in the case. I got the impression that what is in the case may change from day to day.
Prices are really reasonable too.
The Bakeshop is in a wonderful architectural gem, located at the corner of Taylor and Chouteau.
Here are a few more pictures I snapped while I was there.

Amy’s Corner Bakeshop is off the beaten path, a few blocks away from the bustling business strip on Manchester Road.
